I currently live in Tbilisi Georgia. My plan (and the cheapest way I found so far) is to rent a car and just drive to Russia. My friends are only 19 hours away from me. Easy drive, and the experience would be Awesome.
As far as I know about SIM cards - you can get an eSIM for the purpose of internet as a tourist, but that won't provide a phone number to be able to use local apps or set up bank accounts etc.
Within the information pack about this sim card update, there was info bout esims not workibg or thwm being not sold in russia. If theres a chance that works - i hope it does
@@Igorinrussia Hopefully they will create some exemption mechanism for short term tourists like they do in Turkey and Thailand which doesn't require SNILS, bank, Gosuslugi etc.
@ well those are typical pre paid sims, those are also all around europe… the problem is that prepaids are exactly what they wanted to get rid off.. but somekind of sinilar system would be good. Where tourist can get a sim with passport
For my holiday last year I went to Russia and I loved it, this year's holiday I would have travelled back to Russia again but the SIM card situation is a deal breaker for me unfortunately. I have to have a holiday in western Europe instead this year.
Theres a chance to get possiby at airport.. or using wifi or roaming :) Hope you will go tho (western europe is boring compaired to Russia wit or without internet :D
@@Igorinrussia unfortunately I’ve never paid anything for a year. But It’s ok for me to preserve my number. Probably I can fix it at any MTC office. Great thanks!!!
I have traveled to Russia many times but current situation plus not being able to access money from ATM as before, makes me hesitant to return. I have heard that the actual border crossing into Russia takes more time with much questioning by border agents. What is your experience with this? Thank you
@@bobeisen1275 hey, i have all experiences made into a videos on my channel :) * european side of the borders make the experience way longer, ranging from 2-6 (or at worse way longer than that) * russian side does have an interview sometimes for new foreign citizens from unfriendly countries
From the west, very poorly, You can cross through Estonian Luhamaa, but you need to make a reservation in advance (sometimes weeks ahead of time)... its done as hard as possible.. Notice there no international agreement on insurance, so you have to get a russian insurance which is more expensive for foreign cars (so Ive heard)

How to apply for that 3-year visa for USA citizen? Do I need to specify where I will stay(the hotel) and the date of arrival or what?
